Leila Elizabeth Pais, 99 years of age, passed away on January 9, 2018. She was born on June 6, 1918 in Buffalo, New York to Elizabeth Bostwick and Harry Hudson. She had been a longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL. She succumbed to lengthy illness of Alzheimer's and passed away in her Westside home surrounded by her loving family.
Preceding her in death is her husband of 64 years, Master Sergeant (Ret) David Pais, who passed away on August 26, 2006. Leila was a long time military wife and mother until her husband's retirement...

Leila Elizabeth Pais, 99 years of age, passed away on January 9, 2018. She was born on June 6, 1918 in Buffalo, New York to Elizabeth Bostwick and Harry Hudson. She had been a longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL. She succumbed to lengthy illness of Alzheimer's and passed away in her Westside home surrounded by her loving family.
Preceding her in death is her husband of 64 years, Master Sergeant (Ret) David Pais, who passed away on August 26, 2006. Leila was a long time military wife and mother until her husband's retirement from the U.S. Air Force and Florida Air National Guard. Leila then became a secretary for Anderson Surgical Supply in downtown Jacksonville until her retirement.
Leila enjoyed playing Bingo and board games with her friends. She was particularly well known for her famous pineapple upside down cakes which she took to all functions. She was a member fo the American Legion, Moose Lodge and Lane Wileys Senior Citizen's Club with her husband David. All who had contact with her commented on her beautiful smile.
Leila is survived by her younger sister Wanda H. Smith, her daughters: Barbara E. Potter and Patricia A. Tohal (Justin) who are also longtime residents of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren: James D. Potter, Chester A. Potter, Theresa A. Austin, Peter A. Potter, Christopher A. Potter, Steven Johns, Leila R. Wertman; 17 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, she will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, following funeral services.
